SUMMARY:Project X — Real Projects. Real Stories. One Hour.
DESCRIPTION:What's being built across Massachusetts and why does it matter?\n\n\nProject X is MBC's one-hour\, lunchtime Zoom series that puts real projects in the spotlight. Every few weeks we invite a project owner or key stakeholder to share the story behind a major development: the goals\, the design and delivery decisions\, sustainability or green initiatives\, and what the project means for the community. It's relaxed\, informative\, and built for conversation come ready to learn\, ask questions\, and meet peers across the built environment.Registration is FREE for members until March 30thNon Members or late member registration is $20On April 2\, the City of Boston will spotlight a building retrofit project receiving support from the Equitable Emissions Investment Fund (EEIF)\, placing the work within the broader context of BERDO compliance and decarbonization in existing buildings.Attendees will gain a practical understanding of how policy moves into implementation: how projects are selected and funded\, what types of retrofit measures are being deployed\, and how owners and project teams can structure a roadmap from benchmarking through design\, procurement\, construction\, and verification. The session will also address stakeholder coordination\, common challenges encountered in retrofit delivery\, and lessons learned that can inform similar work across Massachusetts.Format includes a guided presentation followed by moderated Q&A\, designed for working professionals to learn during a lunch hour in a relaxed\, highly informative setting.Four learner takeaways (learning objectives)By the end of this program\, participants will be able to:Describe how BERDO requirements influence retrofit planning for existing buildings\, including common compliance-driven decision points and timelines.Identify the role of EEIF funding in enabling larger-scale retrofit projects\, including how funding supports scope development\, implementation\, and measurable outcomes.Recognize common retrofit strategies and tradeoffs (energy conservation measures\, electrification pathways\, controls/operations improvements)\, and how teams prioritize measures for performance and feasibility.Apply lessons learned about delivery and coordination including stakeholder alignment\, procurement considerations\, and implementation challenges to improve outcomes on future retrofit projects.
